The HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting is designed to provide comprehensive training for individuals pursuing a career in dental assisting. This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist dental practitioners during oral health care procedures. The role includes maintaining high standards of infection control, assisting with practice administration and supporting quality and professionalism in the dental sector.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 350 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the Units of Competency.

You will gain a deep understanding of dental procedures, oral health concepts, and best practices in patient care.

We believe in learning by doing. Throughout the program, you will have access to our dental facilities, where you will practice clinical skills and techniques under the guidance of experienced dental professionals. This practical training will enable you to develop the confidence and proficiency required for real-world dental settings.

As part of the program, you will have the opportunity to participate in supervised workplace placement, allowing you to apply your knowledge and skills in a real dental practice. This hands-on experience will enhance your understanding of the dental profession and provide insights into the day-to-day responsibilities of a dental assistant.

Our Certificate III program not only focuses on technical skills but also places emphasis on professional development. You will learn effective communication techniques, patient management strategies, and ethical considerations in dental practice. These skills will help you build strong patient relationships.
Students who complete our course will gain the skills and hands-on experience to step into a Sterilisation Nurse role within 6–8 weeks, and develop into a confident, work-ready Dental Assistant within just 6 months.
There are no formal entry requirements stipulated in the Training Package, however, international students must meet the following requirements:
Minimum age of entry 18 years old. Have successfully completed at least Australian high school year 10, or equivalent
Have sound Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills with an IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.0 or higher.
All students will be required to provide or apply for an USI number.
All students must be physically capable of fitting industry required personal protective equipment (PPE) and must not have any physical impairment that may cause safety issues in the workplace. This may include visual or auditory impairment. Students must also be able to communicate in English and have sufficient verbal communication skills to have a conversation, in English, in the workplace.
No student will be permitted to participate in any workshop if they are under the influence of alcohol, an illegal / illicit substance, or impaired by a prescribed medication and other impairment such as fatigue, mental health issues or stress.

Once students have completed the HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting, they will be able to seek employment or continue their studies in higher education in the areas listed below.
Graduates may also consider enrolling in HLT45021 Certificate IV in Dental Assisting

This can enable you to develop skills in practice management, appointment scheduling, billing, and insurance coordination. Upon successful completion of the HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting, you will be well-prepared to pursue various dental assisting roles in dental clinics, hospitals, specialty practices, and community health centres. Credit transfer is available for students who have previously completed HLT qualifications or similar units, might be entitled to credit transfer if the units of competency completed are the same units, as in identical code and title for the unit, of competency listed in this qualification, or the superseded and equivalent unit.
Students who have applied for credit transfer and verified by Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd will be granted credit transfer.
Candidates who believe they have already obtained current skills and knowledge that would otherwise be covered in the qualification/unit of competence for which they intend to attain but have no formal prior learning should apply for RPL at the time of enrolment. The candidate’s skills and knowledge will be assessed and validated, and where appropriate, units of competency will be awarded and the training duration may be reduced.
The recognition of prior learning process will be made available to students at the time of enrolment. If you can demonstrate competency through the provision of sufficient, current, valid and authentic evidence of work experience, life skills, and study or via other evidence, then you may be granted RPL for that unit of competency.

Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd ensures students have access to a range of resources as required in the units and the training package, however, students are required to have access to their own computers, the internet and stationery resources to continue study outside of class times.
All classrooms are equipped with desks, chairs, sufficient lighting, a whiteboard and markers, projectors, chairs and common dental tools, equipment, and machines.
Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd provides free internet access to students during class for research activities while in class.
Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd will provide access to a simulated and real working environment as required, as well as a range of additional resources that are required as specified in each unit.
Prior to undertaking any training or assessment, trainers and assessors will confirm that the training facilities have all the required equipment and are available to undertake the specified training.
All assessment is competency based. Students are required to complete written and practical tasks, which reflect the requirements of the units of competency and current workplace practices. Assessment is continuous throughout the duration of the course.
Completed and submitted work will be assessed within ten (10) working days and feedback provided to the student as soon as possible thereafter. Where the student’s work is assessed to be not yet satisfactory he / she will be provided with additional advice, coaching or tutoring and the opportunity to re-submit the work with a view to having it assessed as satisfactory.
Feedback and information regarding the student’s competency, progress and study will be provided by the facilitator on a regular and ongoing basis. Ongoing support is also available to all learners and will be provided as soon as a need is identified.
To maximise the chance of students successfully completing their training, Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd will identify any support individual students need prior to their enrolment and provide access to that support throughout their training. This will be done using the Application for Enrolment Form, which students are required to fill in.
Where a student identifies the need for LLN support, they will be required to complete a Pre Enrolment Assessment to assist in determining the student’s support needs.

Where this support attracts an additional cost to the student, Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd will make this clear prior to accepting the student’s enrolment. If there are limitations to the support Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd is able to provide, these limitations will be made clear in information provided to a potential student.
Where Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd identifies required support, such as literacy or numeracy, English or other language barriers or physical capabilities, and it cannot provide such support directly, it will refer the student to a third party. The costs of such third party support will the responsibility of the individual.
Where Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd is not capable of offering an environment suitable for the needs of a student with specific identified needs, it will inform them accordingly and may direct the student to a provider that can, and thus will not process their enrolment.
Completing all the units of competency within this qualification will lead to the issuance of a HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting, including a transcript of all completed units.
Go Educate Institute Pty Ltd will issue the Certification within 30 days of the student being deemed competent in all units they are enrolled in.
Students, who do not complete the required 10 units of competency, with 8 core units and 2 elective units, to achieve the HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units that they have successfully completed.
All Statement of Attainments are issued in line with the Standards for RTOs, AQF Handbook and as required under the Act.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide oral hygiene information and instruction to patients to promote and support effective home care oral health practices. The skills and knowledge will enable the candidate to provide instruction on oral hygiene techniques and accurate selection of basic oral hygiene products and aids for individual patient needs.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
* Please note that if you choose HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid as one of your elective units, it must be completed through an external RTO. Go Educate can assist by recommending approved providers; however, the cost of this external unit is not included in your course fees.
Once you have completed the First Aid course, you will need to submit a copy of your certificate so we can process a Credit Transfer. If you complete the unit through a provider of your own choice, a certified copy of the certificate will be required.
